Picture
The Iroquois Falls Cross-Country Ski Club was established in 1973 by several individuals, most notably Alan Cashmore who was club president for over 40 years. Throughout that time, Alan dedicated thousands of hours to the club. Among others that established the club were Dave Misener, a phys ed teacher and principal in Iroquois Falls. The photo on the left was taken of Dave and Alan on March 26, 2023.

Trails were established starting in the general area and extended out to Rice Lake. Trails 1-3 are on crown land with a land-use permit. Trail number 4 is on the old Cashmore property which remains privately owned and is designated for dogs to run on.

Alan devoted countless hours to the club. Waxing skis was a service that Alan provided for an extremely low rate. The photo on the right was taken around 2017.

A major ice storm in the fall off 2022 brought down over 500 trees on the trail system alone and may have brought the season to a halt. Thankfully, the community responded to a call for help and the trails were cleared.
